Falling in Love

Hey, greetings and salutations! There’s so much going on in the world today, and I wanted this post to be a place where we could ignore that for the time being. Granted, it’s going to be there for a while, but I think that the bombardment of news from social and news media has the effect of sucking a little bit of your soul from you each time you read a story or a post. So, decided to talk about something else and give everyone a break.

“Fall in love with someone who can dance with your demons, embrace your madness, and set fire to your soul!”
― Avijeet Das

I LOVE this quote. Fall in love with someone who can dance with your demons. Hmmm. If I had to guess, I would say that means falling in love with someone who can deal and understand the negative aspects of your personality. We’ve all got dark sides and weaknesses in our life. It would be great if we could get rid of those things so that we’re pureness and light. But that’s not going to happen. We’re all flawed and have issues that need continuous work. The loves of our lives will be able to roll with them, deal with our demons and work with us in order to destroy them.

“…embrace your madness…”. This is interesting. I’d interpret this as saying that we’re all different. Unique. And some of those differences and unique interests and behaviour is shunned by mainstream society. The quirks and foibles that make us different from other people are what make other people fall in love with us. The love of our lives aren’t going to try and destroy those things. They aren’t going to ridicule us for having those things. They aren’t going to make us ashamed of the crazy stuff we love. What our loves will do is embrace that and recognize that all of that is what makes us who we are. Instead of trying to get rid of it, they’ll nurture it.

“…and set fire to your soul!”. This is a hard one! One the one hand, I think the easiest interpretation is that your partner is someone you can be excited about all the time. It’s fireworks, explosions, and passion. It’s the unbridled joy at seeing them and the ecstasy at having them in your life. I think that’s the easiest interpretation…but is it the 100% correct interpretation?

I don’t think that it is. I think the literal interpretation is too easy. Someone who would set fire to my soul would be someone that makes me happy. Happiness and excitement are two different things. Someone I could talk to, someone that would share my interests, someone who could make me strive for the best and return the favour to my partner. A person who would soothe my soul when required, and excite it when needed. Someone who would be there for me and make me the best person I could be. Someone who would be a catalyst in my life and would be a partner in mutual transformation.

So, yeah! I think it can be both!

That’s all for now!!!
